Arockia
Selvi is a Dalit (Untouchable) student from a village called Kallukuzhi. She lost her father when she was very young. She is now supported by her mother, a Coolie worker who does not get work regularly. Somehow she manages her living with her children. Arockia Selvi has a brother who is studying in different school (VIII standard). Her mother is in one of our sangams. Her mother got an individual loan, long back, not paid back due to economics problems. They have small hut only. There is no electricity. Arockia Selvi is an active student. She is the first in her family to complete high school education. Through the project's help, she is helped in VIIIth standard.  Arockia Selvi received the First mark for her standard board exam in our school.  Now she is studying in XIIth standard. She is a hard working student, who dreams of becoming a computer engineer. She hopes to get good marks on her final exam.

Poovathi is a Dalit student. Her parents are agricultural laborers. Her mother is a sickly woman. Poovathi has two sisters and a brother. She is a drop-out child but through the project's help she continues her studies. Her father is a drunkard. The first girl to study in her family, Poovathi is a hard working student and good in studies. She is in our hostel. The family has no house of its own. Now she is studying in XII standard. She aspires to get good marks on her board exam. She would like to become a teacher. She is the first one to be educated in her village, so people in the village are jealous and make fun of her. What can the girl child do after studying? Yet she has the ambition to show that a girl can also come up in life and can earn her living by working.

Mariammal, a Dalit student, lost her father when she was young.  She doesn't even have a memory of seeing the father. Her mother is a Coolie worker who does not have regular work; with her income, they are unable to meet their daily expenses. They have no house of their own. Last year, the house in which they were living collapsed and Mariammal pleaded with the sisters to do some help to build a hut, for which she could pay back when she finishes her studies. The sisters made a sacrifice of not having their congregation feast day and collected all the gifts which they personally get as kindnesses and built a hut. Now Mariammal's family has a house to live in. She has a sister. Mariyammal was a drop-out child, yet with the project's help she continues her studies. She is the first girl studying in her family. Now she studies XIIth standard in our school. She is a hard working student; her ambition is to become a teacher. She realizes her economic condition and takes care of the mother without demanding anything.

Annalakshmi
is from a Tribal village. Her parents are Coolie workers. She has three sisters. The sisters got married very young. Annalakshmi was a drop-out child though the project helps her to continue her studies. She is the first girl studying in her family. Her parents are very happy. Now she is studying IX standard. Her mother, who is in our sangam, received a group loan (Rs.3000) for cultivating a garden. She will return when the produce is ready; she works hard to have a living.

Ramjan Begum is in our Chudars project. Her parents are Iufkhan and Katheja Bevi. Her religion is Muslim. She has a sister who is also studying in our school.  Ramjan's parents are Coolie workers. In Muslim society, girls are not encouraged to pursue higher studies.  Nonetheless, through the project's help, Ramjan is helped to achieve the VIIth standard. It’s because of Forgotten Children's kindness that she is able to continue her studies. And her family members are very happy. The family lives in a hut with no electricity. They burn hurricane light yet she studies well. But her family members are living happily in that small house. Ramjan is a hard working student, who dreams to become a computer engineer. She hopes to get good marks on her final exam. Her only sister (Ramzan Begam) is also studying in the same class, but she temporarily discontinued due to economic conditions in the family. She was helped by us when the parents managed to send her for studies. The whole family and the sister also are happy. Two girls educated in a Muslim family is a great achievement for the poorest of the poor.
